Putting the “B” in MBA

Procrastination is a terrible thing that most people find themselves suffering from at least every once in a while. Here at Cardinal, we have developed a battle plan for combating this problematic obstacle, we call it “Practice not Perfection Rule.”

The biggest reason for procrastination is usually the intimidation of reaching perfection. Perfection is never attainable and a waste of time to try achieving, so we strive for “B” level work in the first pass. Getting a project to 80% completion is a lot less daunting than 100% and gets you to a point where only a few loose ends need to be tied and reviewed to reach completion.

“What?!” you say, “Why would I want to hire these people who don’t put 100% into everything?” Well, first of all, we all have MBA’s and were perfectionists at one time or another and second, let us explain a little more…

Have you ever spent time drafting the perfect email to someone, only to find out that they never even read it when you talk to them later? How much time did you waste working on that email? When working in a subject you know a lot about, (i.e. your profession) then completing an item to a “B” level will actually be at an “A” level to someone who may not know as much.

Working by this rule keeps us from wasting time on minute things that will not make a difference and allows us to focus on the things that will make a difference. So, rest assured, we get the maximum results in the shortest period of time.

Thank you for reading the Cardinal Blog!
